Rajasthan Information:

Rajasthan - The Rajputana of the old. Land of people, who are brave and chivalrous, people with warlike lifestyle around whom grew the most amazing legends of romance and heroism. Everything here is breathtakingly beautiful, impressive and facinating. It is packed with history, arts and culture.

Rajasthan has a total area of 343,000 sq km and the most striking feature of this land is its division by the majestic Aravalli range which runs from north-east to south-west for about 688 km. It is the backbone of the state and divides it into two regions with totally different geographical features.

For what is referred to as a desert, Rajasthan is amazingly populated: its landscape scattered with a number of villages and hamlets, telltale signs of tree groves and populations of cattle being the only indication that there is such a settlement in close proximity.

Rajasthan is located in the north-west part of India. Popular for its forts and havelis, Rajasthan is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India.

The Pink City of Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan.

The western side of the state is dry and receives scanty rainfall. This area of the region includes the Thar Desert, which is also called as the Great Indian Desert. The south-western side of Rajasthan is hilly and more fertile then the western side.

The temperature in Rajasthan varies from region to region and range from 3 to 28C during winter. In summer the mercury hovers between 20 and 46C. Climate is pleasant during winter and this is the ideal time to tour Rajasthan. A number of fairs and festivals also take place in winter thus one can also see the cultural side of the colorful state during winter season.
